Tucked into the rolling hills of Blue Ridge, Texas, in Collin County northeast of Dallas, Buena Vista Ranch redefines event venues with its 74-acre blend of rustic charm and modern sophistication. This family owned retreat offers a canvas for dream weddings, corporate retreats, quinceañeras, and more; but it’s the breathtaking open-air chapel, perched high on a hill overlooking sweeping pastures, that makes it truly unforgettable.
The chapel is the crown jewel of Buena Vista Ranch, and the long awaited vision of owner Luisa Selman. Upon entering the 10-foot carved wooden doors, this architectural marvel is topped with a historic church bell, seats 200 guests, and is surrounded by endless green vistas.
“There’s nothing quite like it in North Texas,” events manager Amber Richardson says. “You’re standing at the edge of the world, with the wind in your hair and 74 acres of rolling meadows stretching out below. It’s pure magic for vows, ceremonies, or just soaking in the view.”
This hilltop sanctuary elevates every event, offering couples a romantic, one-of-a-kind backdrop, and guests a moment of awe amid the Texas countryside.
Beyond the chapel, the ranch boasts three distinct barns that can be tailored to any vision. The trademark Mulberry Barn, with soaring 20-foot ceilings, exposed beams, and room for 400 plus is full of natural light for grand weddings or galas. The cozier Ranch Barn hosts up to 200 for intimate corporate gatherings or reunions, surrounded by three covered patios that sparkle with cafe lights for evening festivities. The smallest and most rustic of the three barns is the saloon with its cedar lined walls, live edge bar, yard games, and fire pit. The sprawling acreage opens up endless possibilities for festivals, picnics, or team building weekends, making Buena Vista Ranch a versatile backdrop for almost any type of celebration.
“We’re here to turn dreams into reality,” Selman adds. “From black-tie weddings with fireworks to laid-back birthdays with donkey visitors, we’ve got the space and the soul.”
Premium add-ons that elevate the experience include skeet shooting for thrill-seekers; fishing in the stocked pond; and the Party Bus, a vintage school bus transformed into a one of kind lounge and service bar. Inspired by the owners childhood nostalgia of Panama in Central America, this funky bar boasts LED lighting, disco balls, and a cozy seating area.
Glamping tents and travel trailers invite overnight stays under the stars, while a bridal suite, and the groom’s “man cave” keep the wedding party pampered. A curated vendor list, from florists to DJs, pairs with the freedom to bring your own.
Selman’s event planning prowess (via Amici Events and Designs) reshaped the property since 2022 to reflect her vision of seamless celebration.
“This is my dream come true,” Selman notes on the website, a sentiment proven by her team’s knack for pivoting to “Plan B” during a rainy wedding, leaving guests raving. All-inclusive packages can be customized for each client, freeing hosts to enjoy the moment, whether it’s a corporate meeting in the barn, or a Sweet 16.
Public Events Bring the Ranch to Life
Buena Vista Ranch isn’t just for private affairs, it’s a community hub with a lineup of public events that draw visitors to its pastoral beauty. They just recently held their first biannual Music and Craft Makers Festival spotlighting original local musical talents paired with artisans showcasing handmade crafts and will have another one in the fall. Movie Nights transform the Mulberry Barn into an open-air cinema, where families sprawl out under blankets, munching gourmet popcorn as classics flicker against the barn backdrop. The Crawfish Boil heats up spring on May 31 with a Cajun feast, and muddy good times celebrating Texas’ love for bold flavors and boots-on-the-ground fun. Farm to Table Wine & Bourbon Dinners take place twice a year.
The Blue Ridge Wine Festival is on June 7. Hosted by WinoFest, it uncorks summer with tastings from regional vintners, set against the chapel’s hilltop perch, blending sips with stunning views and dazzling sunsets.
Beyond these, the ranch hosts seasonal events year round inviting all to savor the countryside’s bounty.
