Night at the Movies on October 3 at the Greenville Municipal Auditorium combines blockbuster film with live orchestration for an eventing of cinematic favorites.
Vocal powerhouse Chloe Lang performs showstoppers like Defying Gravity, The Wizard and I, and Never Enough, in a night of drama, sparkle, and song with the new Greenville Pops Orchestra conducted by Jason Lim.
Lim is an acclaimed conductor whose career is distinguished by artistry, innovation, and international recognition. Born in Penang, Malaysia, his passion for music began early and led him to pursue formal studies in viola performance at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts under Alice Waten, where he was awarded a scholarship for his exceptional talent. He continued his training at the Canberra School of Music in Australia and later graduated with honors from the Australian Institute of Music in Sydney. Lim went on to earn a Master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting from the University of North Texas.
Celebrated for his visionary programming and expressive performances, Lim began his conducting career in Australia as an apprentice with the Canberra Youth Orchestra and later as Assistant Conductor with the Ku Ring Gai Philharmonic Orchestra in Sydney. He quickly gained recognition, winning First Prize in the New South Wales Ministry of Arts Conducting Prize. His accolades include First Prize in the 2021 American Prize—Vytautas Marijosius Memorial Award for Orchestral Programming, inclusion in the Texas Touring Roster by the Texas Commission on the Arts (2020), top honors in the American Prize Competition for Professional Conductors, the Ernst Bacon Memorial Award for excellence in performing American music, and Second Prize in the Professional Opera Conducting Division of the American Prize.
Soloist Chloe Lang is a Scottish-born singer who discovered her love for Broadway and musicals at a young age. She starred in roles such as Sunny in Bugsy Malone, Sandy in Best of Broadway, and Louisa in The Sound of Music. A former student of Edinburgh Acting School and Perth Music School, Lang moved to America in 2010, where she soon became a sought-after vocal coach. Several of her students have gone on to become finalists on American Idol and The Voice. Lang has had a successful music career in America for over 15 years, performing with various music companies across Texas and internationally in places like Spain, Aruba, Canada, and Hawaii. She has opened for major artists, performed at NFL events for the Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones, and Derek Hough. Lang has also lent her voice to original music, cheer companies, and even PlayStation games, showcasing her versatility as both a performer and recording artist.
