Summer in Texas can be intense, but there are plenty of ways to enjoy the season out of the heat in thriving Longview. From live performances to museums and indoor hangouts, here are a few ways to keep cool while making the most of your time in “The View.”
Theatre Longview: Shrek the Musical. Theatre Longview brings Shrek the Musical to the stage for two weekends this August at the Longview Community Center. Reserved seating is moving quickly, and opening night includes a reception beginning at 6:30 p.m. Showtimes are August 1 and 2 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee on August 3 at 2:30 p.m. The production continues the following weekend with performances on August 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m. and a final matinee on August 10. ArtsView Children’s Theatre: Broadway at the View. Broadway at the View returns September 18 through 21 with a cast of talented teens and adults performing musical favorites in an intimate setting. Friday and Saturday night shows feature limited table seating for two or four, which includes drinks and desserts alongside the performance. These tables are expected to sell out quickly. Longview Museum of Fine Arts. The Longview Museum of Fine Arts is a quiet, welcoming space that regularly features regional and national artists. Longview World of Wonders. World of Wonders, also known as WOW, is an interactive children’s museum focused on science, technology and creativity. It is especially popular during summer months and offers an engaging indoor option for families with young children.
